The Souper Bowl of Caring
Dear Faith and Community Friends,
It’s that time of year again where millions of fans begin to get excited about Souper Bowl Sunday. During which, the American public will raise millions of dollars to be spent on a game that will only last a few hours. The Union County Community Shelter would like to present a unique opportunity to raise thousands of dollars for the hungry and homeless right here in our own community with the Souper Bowl of Caring. This national initiative has become an annual tradition for many schools, clubs and churches.
We would like to invite your congregation to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring in Union County. We will supply you with instructions along with free materials including collection buckets, and bulletin inserts. You have the flexibility to run the collection however you would like!
During the weeks of January 31st- March 25th, choose one date or several dates, for your congregation to contribute a special “Souper Bowl” offering to help the homeless and hungry in Union County. We find it most powerful if you choose the week immediately following the Super Bowl or even the actual day of the event, Sunday February 4.
This is a fun and easy project for your youth or church group to manage. All monies collected are fully tax deductible, stay in our county, and support our food and shelter programs. Our ability to meet the needs of our clients depends greatly on the support we receive from this once-a-year fundraiser. Please consider helping us in the endeavor!
To get started, please contact Rachel Sykes at Rachel.email@example.com or at (704) 261-3083. Afterwards, just return the buckets and funds (preferably one collective check from your church office) back to UCCS. We will also be happy to pick them up.
Last year, 55,000 hot meals were served and hundreds of food boxes were given to the needy. Let’s smash our collective goal of $50,000 to eliminate homeless and hunger! On behalf of the clients we serve, thank you for your support. We hope you will join the Souper Bowl of Caring Team! We cannot do this work without you.
With my very best wishes for a blessed 2018,
Rachel Sykes, Fundraising Manager
