The UBA Baptist Men will be partnering with the Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross and your local Fire Department to install smoke detectors. We are trying to keep our communities safe by providing a FREE smoke alarm to those of you who do not already have one.
AS WE ARE ABLE we will deliver and install a smoke alarm in your home at NO COST to you while supplies last!
The UBA Baptist Men will be recruiting volunteers to help with the installation of these smoke alarms. Contact Mark Hinson, 704-698-8795, to volunteer or for more information.
The American Red Cross will also be sending these forms to all churches.
Simply fill out the form (click here to download form), return to the Red Cross office and someone will contact you to set a date and time.
Contact the Union County Chapter at 704-283-7402 for more information.

We have a wait list of adult students, both native speakers and English-as-a-second-language speakers. These adults want to learn how to read, write, and understand English.
Learning to tell time, read a menu or use a computer as well as obtaining a driver's license, getting a new job or reading confidently to one's children are life skills that our students most often aim to reach. Giving instruction in a focused setting, tutors can have a tremendous impact on students' quality of life.
Many of our tutors learned about our English tutoring program for adults via a friend in church or their church newsletter.
If you would be interested in helping someone to learn to read, please call the Literacy Council of Union County and volunteer....WE NEED YOU!!!
Tutoring sites are at libararies, churches, and businesses throughout Union County.
Literacy Council 101 (orientation) scheduled monthly.
2014 Compensation Study
Well North Carolina made up some ground last week with approximately 127 new surveys completed for a year-to-date total of 450 surveys completed. We jumped from 4th place to 3rd, and closed the gap with Kentucky - 501, but still significantly behind Tennessee with 727 surveys completed.
Please continue to promote this valuable tool to your Association churches through your newsletters, websites, and pastor's conferences. In 2012 - we had over 1,600 surveys completed and North Carolina has quite a ways to go. Remember the survey ends on May 31, 2014 - plenty time to catch up, but no time like the present.
Thank you all for the work you do, and if there is anything I can do to assist you, please let me know.
