UBA Newsletter Changes

The UBA Council has made the decision to stop sending out a “printed” newsletter each month. We are seeking ways to save the   Association money so that we can better   accomplish our mission. This December edition will be our last printed edition. By no longer sending a “printed” copy of the newsletter we will 1) save money, 2) save paper, 3) save time and resources to print, 4) and save mailing cost. This action will be a significant saving to the UBA.

The UBA Newsletter will still be offered in electronic form:  email, pdf, website, Facebook page, etc. If you would still like to receive a copy of the Newsletter in “print form”, please notify our office. We will send a printed newsletter to everyone that request one.

We have a wait list of adult students, both native speakers and English-as-a-second-language speakers. These adults want to learn how to read, write, and understand English.

Learning to tell time, read a menu or use a computer as well as obtaining a driver's license, getting a new job or reading confidently to one's children are life skills that our students most often aim to reach. Giving instruction in a focused setting, tutors can have a tremendous impact on students' quality of life.

Many of our tutors learned about our English tutoring program for adults via a friend in church or their church newsletter.

If you would be interested in helping someone to learn to read, please call the Literacy Council of Union County and volunteer....WE NEED YOU!!!

Tutoring sites are at libararies, churches, and businesses throughout Union County.
