One Million Men

in the Making at Monroe Middle School

On January 16th  Heart for Monroe launched the One Million Men in the Making mentoring program at Monroe Middle School.  27 6th  grade students have been selected for this program.  The curriculum focuses on discovering and developing character and confidence in young men.  The program is held on Monday mornings from 10:50-11:30 am at Monroe Middle School in the Media Center.  We need 10 more men to mentor these boys.  Please consider giving your time to change a student’s life. To sign up, go to heartformonroe.com.

Monroe High School Mentoring Program

We are so excited to begin the 2017-18 Monroe High School Mentoring Program. This program is designed for mentors to visit with students on a weekly basis anytime during the day. We currently have 40 students that have reached out and asked for mentors at this time.

Volunteers are not expected to tutor the students during their visit. The program is set up for the volunteers to offer support academically and/or socially. The goal is to motivate students so that they stay on track and graduate or complete their grade level. To learn more and sign up, please go www.heartformonroe.com

We had a very successful Construction Skills Training on October 28 at the Red Springs Mission Camp and are making plans to repeat it in 2018 at both Red Springs and Shelby.  This is open to adults and students age 13 and above who have an adult present with them.  It is a great event for youth groups to learn more about some of the skills we use in Disaster Relief, handyman ministries, and a number of local ministries.

The training will be on February 24 at Shelby Mission and March 24 at Red Springs.
